Unemployment

I have been unemployed now for three days. It was self-imposed, so I can't really complain; but it has not been easy. Its weird, but time starts to fade away...seriously. I was grocery shopping the other day (something I usually do on Sundays) and I couldn't figure out the time or the day. I had to take my cell phone out to look at the datebook in it. It was embarassing...and not just because I was in line to pay when I had to stop everything.
You feel like a lay-about. A useless member of society. Nothing.
Now, this is not to say that when I worked I always felt I was contributing to society, or that my life had meaning, etc. But I totally took for granted that I had something to get me out of bed in the morning.
Sorry for the depressing blog. I'm hungry, and I am sure that is the cause of all these blue thoughts.

The Greatest Night of My Life Posted by Picasa

The Greatest Night of My Life

So, I met Tom Jones. In the last handful of years I have my love for TJ has grown and grown. Now, after seeing him 4 times in concert, I have met him.
Thanks to the help of Miss Geneva Simms, aka my hero, I got backstage at his show at the Nokia Theater. Once there, we were ushered four at a time into his dressing room.
I shook his hand, introduced myself, and then proceeded to gush and gush my feelings. He was gracious and kind, and then as we were going I asked to take a picture and he responded with, 'by all means!'
It was the greatest night of my life. I pity the man I marry and the children I have, because when they ask me what was greater, the night I got married or when my children were born, I will answer with, 'sorry honey. Mommy's best night was February 15th, 2006. The night she met Tom Jones.'

Why do I bother?

Some mornings I get up and it takes me 30 minutes to get ready. Honestly, 30 minutes, including shower, make-up, blow drying hair and getting dressed. Those days, lately, are fewer and FAR between.
This morning, I got up and took a shower, blow dried my hair, and did my make-up, took me 24 minutes. It then took me an additional 20 minutes to find something to wear. 20 minutes. I mean, seriously, it doesn't take long to put on a shirt and then take it off. 20 minutes it took me. I can't even count the number of outfits I put on today. Nothing looked right. Nothing.
By the time i finally picked out something very simple...my hair looked flat and messy and my make-up was gone. So much for trying to look good at work.

Welcome!!

I have been fascinated by blogging for sometime now. I mean, blog is a real really real word! What does it take to make a word part of the pop culture language? More importantly, what can I do to create a new word? Well, to tell the truth, I already made up a new word, but I need to have everyone use it, or whats the use?
So here goes, folks. Our new favorite word is...wait for it....flosigli(pronounced Flow-see-ly) Now comes the hardest part, deciding what it means. I am leaning towards 'impromptu' (i.e. We met up for that flosigli party) but if you have other ideas, please share.
Anyway, thanks for checkin' out my blog. I promise to try and blog on things other people will find interesting. Tune in next week as I discuss my love of Tom Jones...just kidding!!! (only not really kidding)
